Proper 13 - Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost
One: O give thanks to God, for God is good.
All: God’s steadfast love endures forever.
One: God takes us up in loving arms.
All: and teaches us to walk.
One: Even when we turn away from God,
All: Even when we seek war and become greedy,
One:: Even then, God’s compassion grows warm and tender.
All: God does not give up on us.
      O give thanks to God for God is good.

One: O God, sometimes you surprise us.
All: When we think we've done enough,
     when we think we've done all we can possibly do,
One: You call us to show mercy even to our enemies.
All: You teach us to give justice to the weak and to the orphan.
One: You lead us to defend the rights of poor and homeless people.
All: You send us out to rescue the weak and the needy.
One: Keep surprising us in new and different ways,
All: That we might move closer to carrying out your will on earth. Amen.

One: Yet God does not count our sins of resentment and envy against us.
All: God, through Christ, gives us a ministry of reconciliation.
