Litany for 6 February 2011

Call to Celebration:
L: Shout out! Lift up your voice like a trumpet!
P: You are the light of the world!
L: Loosen the bonds of injustice and undo the thongs of the yoke,
P: Let the oppressed go free, breaking every yoke.
L: Share your bread with the hungry,
P: And bring the homeless poor into your house.
L: Then your light shall break forth like the dawn!
ALL: Praise be to God!

Fourth Sunday after Epiphany 
Call to Celebration
L: With what gift do we come into Yahweh's presence and bow down before God on high?
P: What sacrifice is sufficient to atone for our wrongdoing?
L: Only this does Yahweh ask of us:
ALL: To act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with our God.

Call to Worship:
L: The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light!
P: Those who lived in a land of deep darkness, on them light has shined!
L: Jesus said, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people”
P: And immediately they left their nets and followed him.
All: Behold the beauty of the Lord. Let us sing and make melody to the Lord.

This begins my first posting.  Below is the litany written for tomorrow:


Second Sunday after Epiphany         16 January 2011
Call to Worship:
L: Listen to me, O coastlands; Pay attention, people from far away!
P: God called us before we were born,
L: While we were in our mothers' wombs God named us.
P: Yahweh put a new song in our mouths, a song of praise to God.
L: God tells us: "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified."
P: We are chosen by the Holy One of Israel. 
L: “I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
All: Praise be to God!!
