Litany for 27 February 2011

Call to Celebration from the Lectionary:
L: Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth!
P: Break forth, O mountains, into singing!
L: For God cares for the birds of the air,
P: And the lilies of the field,
L: Even more, God cares for us.
P: The Lord comforts us, and will have compassion on those who suffer.
All: Let us break forth into singing! Amen!
                        from Isaiah 49:13 and Matthew 6:26 & 28

Litany for 20 February 2011

Call to Celebration:
L: Lead us in the path of your commandments, for it is not always easy, God.
P: You ask that we love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us,
L: That we leave grapes in our vineyards for the needy and the foreigner.
P: That we give to people who beg from us and not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from us.
L: This is hard, God, and so we pray: Turn our hearts to your decrees, and not to selfish gain.
All: Give us understanding, that we may keep your law and observe it with our whole heart.
                           Psalm 119:34-36 and Matthew 5:42-44

L: If you would offer your gift to God,
P: First be reconciled to your brother or sister.
