Litany for Fourth Sunday in Lent, Year C

Call to Worship for 2016-03-06

One: Be glad in God. Rejoice!
All: Shout for joy, for God’s love is extravagant!
One: God is filled with compassion for us.
All: Just as the father rejoices at finding his lost son,
One: God celebrates with great joy when we return home.
All: Let us turn to God and rejoice! Amen.

Litany for Fourth Sunday in Lent, Year B

Call to Worship for Fourth Sunday in Lent, 2015
One: O, give thanks to God, for God is good.
All: God’s steadfast love endures forever.
One: As some became sick through their sinful ways,
All: And because of their iniquities, endured affliction,
One: They cried out to God, and God saved them and healed them.
All: Let us offer thanksgiving and sing songs of joy! Amen.
         from Psalm 107

Litany for 30 March 2014 - Fourth Sunday in Lent Year A

Call to Worship

One: Do not look on appearances.
All: Do not look at height or stature.
One: For God does not see as we see.
All: God looks instead on the heart.
One: God chose the boy, David, saying,
All: "Rise and anoint him, for this is the one,"
One: And God's spirit came mightily upon David from that day forward.
All: We pray that we also may look beyond appearances and to the heart.

Litany for 10 March 2013

Fourth Sunday in Lent
Call to Worship for 10 March 2013
One: We confess we are at times resentful. Like the older brother in the story of the Prodigal Son, we sometimes begrudge generosity shown to others.
All: We are envious and want the attention for ourselves.
One: Yet God does not count our sins of resentment and envy against us.
All: God, through Christ, gives us a ministry of reconciliation.
One: In Christ there is a new creation! Everything old has passed away;
All: Everything has become new! Praise be to God!
           from Luke 15:1-3, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
