Seventh Sunday After Pentecost (Proper 13)       31 July 2011
Call to Worship
L: Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish.
P: The LORD is gracious and merciful.
L: Jesus looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves,
P: The LORD is good, and has compassion over all the earth.
L: Jesus gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
P: The LORD raises up all who are bowed down.
L: All ate and were filled;
All: God is gracious and merciful! Thanks be to God!

L: O give thanks to God.
P: For God’s Kingdom is like the tiny seed which yields a mustard tree.
L: Sing to the Lord, sing praises to God.
P: God’s Kingdom is like the yeast which makes bread rise.
L: Tell of all God’s wonderful works.
P: For God’s Kingdom is like a hidden treasure unearthed.
All: Praise the Lord! O give thanks to God.

P: And the valleys deck themselves with grain.
L: With God’s love, we see our world anew with the wonder of a child.
P: And we welcome others with the eagerness and caring of a child.
All: With God’s love, we shout and sing together for joy!

Call to Worship
L: The mountains and the hills burst into song,
P: And all the trees of the field clap their hands.
L: The rain and snow come down from heaven.
P: They water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout,
L: Giving seed to the sower,
P: And bread to the eater.
All: So too, may God’s word go out and accomplish its purpose.  Amen.
