Call to Worship
One: O give thanks to the LORD!
All: Make known God's deeds among all people!
One: Sing to God.
All: We sing God's praises!
One: Seek God's strength.
All: Seek God's presence continually.
       Let us tell of God's wonderful works!
              From Psalm 105: 1-4

Prayer of Confession (as responsive reading)
One: O God, there are times when we struggle to find the right path.
All: Like Jacob we feel alone or adrift,
One: We wrestle to find meaning in our lives.
All: Sometimes we actively resist your direction in our lives.
One: We want you to incline an ear to us,
All: And we do not even listen for your answer.
       Open our ears, God, that we may listen for your voice in our hearts.

Call to worship

One: Who will separate us from the love of God? 

All: Will hardship, or distress? 

One: Will persecution, famine, danger or war?

All: No. Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,

One: Neither things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, 

All: Nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God!

Proper 12 ~ Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

One: God, we bow down and give thanks to your name,

All: For your steadfast love and your faithfulness;

One: We give thanks with our whole hearts.

All: We sing your praise.

One: And when we pray, you answer, God..

All: You speak peace to those who turn toward you in their hearts.

One: Faithfulness springs up from the ground,

        And righteousness looks down from the sky.

All: Let us bow down and give thanks to God!

P: God’s Kingdom is like the yeast which makes bread rise.
L: Tell of all God’s wonderful works.
P: For God’s Kingdom is like a hidden treasure unearthed.
All: Praise the Lord! O give thanks to God.
