Call to Worship - 24 February 2013

One: Wait for God, be strong, and let your heart take courage.

All: For those whose minds are set instead on earthly things, those who act with greed,

One: Their end is their destruction, their glory is their shame.

All: No. Let us stand firm in God, wait for God, take courage from God.

One: For blessed are those who come in God’s name.

All: They shall see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

Litany for 17 February 2013

First Sunday in Lent
Call to Worship - 17 Feb 2013
One: Jesus was hungry, and was tempted to eat, but instead he quoted scripture saying,
All: “One does not live by bread alone.”
One: Jesus felt the temptation to seek power and glory, but again he remembered the scripture,
All: “Worship the Lord your God, serve God alone.”
One: Jesus was tempted to test how far God would protect him, but instead he reminded himself,
All: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”
All: Let us also turn from our temptations and seek God.

Transfiguration Sunday 
Call to Worship - 10 Feb 2013
One: Moses went up on the mountain to pray.
All: There he was talking with God, and his face was shining!.
One: Jesus also went up on the mountain to pray.
All: While he was praying, the appearance of his face changed.
One: His clothes became dazzling white.
All: Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
One: "This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!"
All: Holy is God! Awesome is God’s name!
